Waxed amaryllis bulb 

The wax amaryllis from Fam Flower Farm is of high quality. A wax amaryllis is a so-called dry bloomer. Everything they need to grow is already in the waxed amaryllis bulb. So this is not only a decorative layer, but also protective. After flowering, you can peel off the wax layer from the bulb and give the bulb a second life! Amaryllis bulbs without water 

You wouldn't expect it, but huge amaryllis flower stalks can grow from such a small bulb. You can already see a small part from the tops you see coming out of the amaryllis bulb in wax. These will eventually produce beautiful large amaryllis flowers. We sell the XXL bulbs so they definitely produce 2 stems and sometimes a second bloom. 

The nice thing is that this starts within just a few weeks. As soon as you place the bulb in your warm living room, you will see leaves appear within a few days. Place the amaryllis in a bright spot at a temperature between 18 and 21 degrees. Preferably not close to the heating. The stems often grow towards the light, so turn the bulb regularly so that the plant continues to grow proportionally. 

So, what is the best way to care for an amaryllis bulb? Actually not at all ;-) A wax amaryllis is a type of amaryllis on water. They don't need any care at all. No soil, no nutrients or water. 

History of amaryllis  

The scientific name of amaryllis bulbs is Hippeastrum species: a genus of plants in the amaryllis family. This includes about 30 genera, including daffodils, Clivia, Alstroemeria and (snow)bells.  

The true genus amaryllis is also included, but it looks quite different from the Hippeastrum. That we call them so anyway is because they used to belong to this genus. These hybrid forms, like the Hippeastrum, do have the strongest stems and the largest flowers. At least two stems appear from each bulb that have multiple flowers.
